Abstract:
When looking in the body of knowledge to other sources, there was much information on social media and mental and physical health but little research done on students' overall feelings about school. So I decided to look into how TikTok, a social media app, impacts the feelings of students in Allegheny County. TikTok is a social media app where users can create videos and post them so other users can go on and watch these videos. Many of my participants are from Allegheny County, specifically a medium suburban high school. The method I used for my study was a correlational survey to find a relationship between the number of hours on TikTok and how a student feels about school. A survey was used to get my data by asking a series of questions using a Likert scale. The overall findings suggest there is a correlation between some feelings in school such as stress and tiredness. This helps students realize spending more time on TikTok can harm them rather than help them in school.
