How High School Track and Field Athletes' Performance is Impacted By Their Family History in The Sport
Abstract:
Previous works have found the correlations between heritable genes and how they pass through generations impacting performance of the athlete. However I wanted to discover the impact on topics such as motivations, parietal attendance and how these factors impact performance of these athletes. My method consisted of a participant based survey in which I asked High School track and field athletes a multitude of questions based on the aforementioned topics. Using the results of this survey I compiled my data into both quantitative and qualitative sections in an attempt to find a correlation between these factors. I found that this is in fact a correlation between parietal attendance, motivations and performance. This not only shows the importance of parents' attendance in track and field but transcends into other sports and interests of these children.
