North end
Before demolition began for the construction of the Central Artery, between 1951 and 1959, the North End was a lively part of Boston that heavily influenced business life in Boston. Below are five parcels of the North End that capture what was there before the Central Artery. These five parcels look at themes and narratives of fires, business and manufacturing companies, property and building owners, building materials, certain groups of people, street expansions, markets, and parks.
