A CLOSER LOOK AT

Jayme A.
About My Parcel:
Hudson Street, located in the South End of Boston (specifically present-day Chinatown), has remained central to the community throughout multiple centuries. Home to many intersecting cultures and nearby to the Boston and Albany Railroad, the area's brick buildings were largely dominated by tenement blocks and business fronts. In the research of my parcel, a few narratives in particular caught my attention:
The immigration of Syrian and Chinese peoples
Important figures who called Hudson Street home
KEY FEATURES:
Becoming Syriatown
In the early twentieth century, Hudson Street saw a large influx of Syrian immigrants. Click here to learn the context in which the community fit into a rapidly changing and developing Boston.

(Un)Becoming Chinatown
