South / Chinatown

Located at the southern reaches of the Central Artery, the South Station/Chinatown area endured significant change throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. From a shoe manufacturing site to a transit hub, the area has evolved over time into the bustling financial district it is today. As home to both rail and road, the neighborhood has developed alongside both streetcars and automobiles just as much as freight and passenger trains.
