What happened after harvard?

In March 1912, the Wyzanski Brothers Real Estate purchased the property as short-term landowners; five months later, Wyzanski Brothers Real Estate sold this parcel to John W. Flavin. But who are the Wyzanski Brothers and why did they own the property?

Who are the Wyzanski Brothers?

The Wyzanski Brothers, Max and Charles, were Russian Brothers who immigrated to Boston in their early teens. By the time they were 30 years old, they had invested in large portions of real estate within the Boston city limits. Their tactic was to purchase real estate as "transition investors" immediately as prime locations went up for sale. They would then up the price for purchase or rent the land to businesses.  When Harvard College sold 46 India Street, The Wyzanski Brothers Real Estate quickly jumped into purchase from the College in March 1912.

What other land do they own?

As Real Estate moguls in Boston, The Wyzanski Brothers were fast acting in purchasing newly vulnerable real estate. They owned large portions of property however focused on trends and city development to direct their purchases to where their money was best spent. For example, 46 India Street was a high profile purchase because of its proximity to the wharf.

Other streets on which they owned property through 1904-1916 include: Howard Street, Copley Square, Blackstone Street, Washington Street, Hanover Street, the "Wyzanski Block" on Green Street, areas in Back Bay and South End, Bromfield Street, and extensive property in Brookline.

Who did they sell 46 India street to?

Five months later, in August of 1912, the Wyzanski Brothers Real Estate Investors quickly turned over their property on 46 India Street to John W. Flavin. This is why the Wyzanski Brothers' name is never on a Boston City Map because their ownership was short-term, however it is documented through Boston Globe Real Estate Columns.

John w. Flavin Real estate purchase

John W. Flavin purchased 46 India Street from the Wyzanski Brothers Real Estate in August 1912. He used this property as an undefined Industrial Manufacturing Corporation.

(Right) Atlascope maps show change of land ownership. In 1908, 46 India was owned by Harvard College and when documented again in 1912, instead of Wyzanski Brothers, John W. Flavin was documented as the owner.
