Student Counseling Services provides accessible individual counseling, and 24/7 on-call support to enrolled students who want to experience enhanced well-being; build emotional and cognitive strength and agility; and address emotional, behavioral, and academic concerns. The collaborative counseling process assists in targeting issues, establishing realistic goals, and developing active, short-term treatment solutions. Services are provided by professional, compassionate, skilled counselors in a relaxed and confidential environment. For new students with existing mental health service needs, we recommend early identification with our office to facilitate connections with our network of community treatment and/or medication providers. This will ensure a seamless transition from home to campus, with no gaps in service. Student Counseling Services offers referrals to outside providers for students seeking longer-term therapy or for more specialized care.
Any enrolled student is eligible to participate in short-term individual counseling free of charge. Emergency screening outside of office hours can be initiated by contacting Public Safety at 516-463-6789.
