ELA Instruction by Grade

All students deserve instruction based on their needs. Teachers must have the skills to assess, analyze, and determine students’ specific literacy needs in order to ensure that all lessons and materials have the highest level of instructional match. Tiers are used to describe the intensity and customization of instruction. They do not define a student, describe a program, or describe a sequential process of steps that a student must go through. To meet the needs of all students, the educational system must use its collective resources to provide appropriate support and enrichment for all learners. Every student has the right to teaching that enhances strengths while supporting areas needing growth.
