Celebrating a Great Week at Harwood!
What a week at Harwood! Our “Neon Kicks” dance lit up the night with nearly 400 students having an incredible time. The band brought the energy all week with powerful performances, and our athletes gave it their all on the court and the field.
Students showed heart during Pink Out, explored future opportunities at the Buinger CTE field trip, and continued to represent what it means to be Blackhawk Built.
Next up...Red Ribbon Week and our theatre performance of Alice Through the Looking Glass this Friday and Saturday. The excitement doesn’t stop at Harwood!
It has been a great week at Harwood.
Fall Dance- Harwood Junior High’s PTA hosted the “Neon Kicks” dance last Friday with nearly 400 students attending. The neon-themed event featured music, concessions, and high energy. Students showed great behavior, and strong PTA and staff support made it a safe, successful night.
Band Concert- The Harwood band delivered an outstanding week of performances, starting with an energetic show at the 8th-grade football game Tuesday night that had the crowd on its feet. They followed it up with an incredible concert Wednesday evening, showcasing their talent, precision, and passion for music. Their dedication and teamwork were on full display, earning well-deserved praise from everyone in attendance. Mr. Bellville, Mr. Hernandez outdid themselves.
Pink Out- Students showed their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month by wearing pink on Wednesday. The halls were filled with shades of pink as a powerful reminder of unity, compassion, and the importance of awareness in the fight against breast cancer.
Buinger Fieldtrip- Our 8th grade field trip to the Buinger Career and Technical Education Academy provided exposure to applied learning and early college credit pathways. Students observed programs leading to certifications available at Trinity High School, such as health science, engineering, information technology, and culinary arts. The experience connected academic content to career readiness standards, demonstrating practical applications of skills and introducing dual credit opportunities. This event supports district priorities of Student Success and Family and Community Partnerships by promoting awareness of postsecondary pathways and workforce alignment.
7th Grade Volleyball- The 7th-grade team has been relentlessly preparing for the District 12 Tournament. After a series of hard-fought matchups on Monday, they’ve earned a spot to compete for the championship title this Friday night at Smithfield. Let's ake a moment to recognize their effort and wish them strength as they pursue victory.
8th Grade Volleyball- The 8th grade volleyball team battled hard against North Ridge Monday night, taking it to three sets but falling just short in the end. Corryn Acosta made some smart, strategic hits, and Harleigh Grahn put up some strong blocks at the net!
We’ll wrap up our season this Saturday at 1:00 PM at the W. G. Thomas Coliseum. Come out and cheer us on in our season finale! Fight on, Blackhawks!
8th A Team Football Recap- The Harwood Blackhawks battled the mighty Broncos last night in an epic matchup! The offensive line paved the way for touchdowns by Tristan Grove and Pharoah Mimms, while Quarterback Darius Vea led with calm leadership and focus.
Izaac Tukuafu set the tone on defense with his intensity, and Jacob Simpson wowed the crowd with an amazing 25-yard point-after-touchdown.
It was a full team effort showing true Blackhawk pride. The final score was Harwood 14, Bedford 6. The Blackhawks record for the season stands at 7 wins and 1 loss. These young men have shown what it means to be BLACKHAWK BUILT
