It is the greatest honor and joy to serve as the principal of Harwood Junior High. As a proud former Harwood Blackhawk, stepping into this leadership role feels like coming full circle.
Every hallway, classroom, and tradition at Harwood shaped the person I am today, and I’m beyond excited to give back to the community that gave me so much. I come to this role with a passion for people, a heart for students, and a commitment to building something extraordinary together.
For the last 7 years, I have had the honor of serving as an elementary principal at Lakewood, and am so excited to move to the junior high level! I believe deeply in the power of strong relationships, intentional collaboration, and a culture where every voice is valued and every learner can thrive.
As we honor the legacy of Harwood, we’ll also dream boldly about the future. This is a new season filled with opportunity, unity, and purpose. I can’t wait to partner with our incredible staff, students, and families to ensure every Blackhawk is known, challenged, and inspired to soar.
My name is Memphis Carter, and I’m thrilled to serve as an Assistant Principal at Harwood Junior High School. With 13 years of experience in education — starting as a math teacher and moving into leadership roles — I’ve dedicated my career to supporting and guiding students toward growth and success.
I am deeply passionate about learning and continuous improvement, both personally and professionally. Whether I’m refining instructional practices, supporting teachers, or implementing school-wide initiatives, I seek out opportunities for growth at every level of education.
Collaboration, strong relationships, and a culture where every voice matters are at the core of my leadership philosophy. I’m committed to fostering an environment where each student and staff member feels supported and inspired to achieve.
I’m proud to be part of Harwood Junior High, and I look forward to working alongside our incredible staff, students, and families. Tegether, we can ensure each student feels valued, is held to high expectations, and has the support they need to succeed at every step. Let's go Hawks!
I'm so excited to be transitioning into this new role here at Harwood. For the last five years, I have been an English teacher and department chair here. And, like Dr. Ramirez, I am a proud former Blackhawk! It is no secret that this role is my dream job. I am passionate about serving the HEB community, especially the campus where I was raised.
As I support our students this year, I am excited to partner with guardians and community members to ensure that we continue to provide high-quality education for every student, every day. I believe in the power of schools to make the difference in the lives of children, and I'm excited to be one piece of that puzzle.
I look forward to this year in my new role at the same wonderful place I call home! Go Blackhawks!
