Welcome to Harwood Junior High! I am honored to serve as your principal and to be part of this incredible Blackhawk community. As a proud Harwood alumnus, returning to the school that helped shape me is both a privilege and a responsibility I cherish. After graduating from Harwood, I attended Trinity High School before earning my degrees in education and educational leadership.
My husband and I love spending time together traveling, discovering new places, and making memories along the way. At home, we're kept entertained by our two Yorkshire Terriers, Dennis and Sullivan, who definitely have big personalities. When I'm not at school, you'll often find me with a good book, around a mahjong table with friends, or cheering on my favorite team. I'm a lifelong, and admittedly crazy, Kansas Jayhawks fan, so basketball season is one of my favorite times of the year.
One of the greatest joys of being principal is being part of our students' lives beyond the classroom. Whether I'm cheering on the Blackhawks at athletic events, celebrating fine arts performances, or simply visiting with students in the hallways, I love being involved in all that makes Harwood such a special place. I believe strong relationships are the foundation of a great school, and I look forward to continuing to get to know every member of our Harwood family.
I am honored to serve as your assistant principal and to be part of this incredible Blackhawk community. I grew up in San Antonio before my family moved to Edmond, Oklahoma, where I finished high school. From there, I headed to the University of Oklahoma and have now spent 26 years in education, a career I still love just as much as when I started.
I have a beautiful family, including three daughters and a granddaughter who keeps us all on our toes, along with three dogs who make sure there's never a dull moment at home. When I'm not at school, you can usually find me snow skiing or relaxing at the lake—though I haven't quite figured out how to do both at once! I also love watching sports and cheering on my teams; there's nothing quite like game day.
One of the best parts of being an assistant principal is getting to be part of our students' lives and watching them grow from year to year. I love witnessing the exciting “aha” moments and the maturity that happens over the course of the school year and beyond. I am looking forward to this new year: meeting new people, getting to know the Harwood family, and learning everything that makes this community so special. Go Blackhawks!
As a proud Harwood Blackhawk and former Harwood teacher, I am honored to serve as an assistant principal at the school that helped shape me. This is my second year as an assistant principal and my eighth year in education. I earned bachelor's degrees in English Literature and Middle School Education from Lubbock Christian University and a master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. I am passionate about serving all students and supporting the Harwood community.
My husband, Taryn, and I have been married for seven years and have two daughters, Amelia (4) and Landry (1), along with our wonderful dog, Huey. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, running, baking, gardening, and a good cup (or 5) of coffee. I'm a fan of Gilmore Girls, the New York Giants, and the Dallas Stars.
Building relationships with students, staff, and families is one of my favorite parts of this role. What a privilege it is for me to give back to the Harwood community and support every Blackhawk's success!
