New Safety Equipment Storage on Campuses
In accordance with a new Texas school safety law, HEB ISD will be installing secure equipment safes in or near the lobby of each campus to store required emergency response tools. These safes are part of statewide safety standards and are intended to support rapid response by trained law enforcement in the event of an emergency. The safes do not contain firearms, will remain locked at all times and are accessible only to authorized law enforcement personnel. This measure is one of several steps HEB ISD continues to take to prioritize the safety and security of our students and staff.
It has been a great week at Harwood.

Wrestling
The Trinity Trojan Wrestling Team competed in the District 4-6A Wrestling Tournament this past Saturday. Ten wrestlers qualified for the Region I Tournament, which will be held this Friday and Saturday at Coppell High School. Congratulations to Knox Hobbs, who placed 4th in his weight class and earned a spot at regionals!
Swimming
TRINITY HISTORY MADE by a Harwood Freshman! Since 1995, the 200-meter swim record at Trinity High School stood strong—until January 23, 2026. With grit, speed, and determination, Satomi Ota broke a 25-year-old record and etched their name into Trinity history. We are incredibly proud of this record-breaking performance—proof that records are meant to be broken!
Soccer
(⅖) Wednesday night, both boys’ soccer teams competed with effort and pride, but the results highlighted an important lesson for everyone involved.
Albion faced Central with only one substitute available due to suspensions and absences. The players on the field battled hard and stayed competitive, but tired legs led to two goals in the final four minutes, resulting in a 3–1 loss. Coach A named Mathew Ramos Man of the Match for his goal, tireless work rate, and leadership when the team needed it most.
The Blackhawks played Hurst in a close contest and performed well until the final minute, when a moment of lost focus allowed the deciding goal in a 2–1 loss. Coach Megan recognized Benjamin Belepe and Benjamin Brashear as Co–Men of the Match for their consistency, discipline, and commitment from start to finish.
Both coaches are frustrated, not with effort, but with availability. Absences from practice and poor classroom behavior have led to suspensions and made it impossible for either team to consistently field their strongest lineup. That reality affects everyone wearing the uniform.
This message is about responsibility, not blame. Success on the field is built during the week, by showing up, preparing, and meeting expectations in the classroom. When those commitments are honoured, teams grow stronger. When they aren’t, teammates are asked to carry more than their share.
The opportunity remains in front of us. Growth is still possible. But progress will only come when every player decides that being accountable, to teammates, coaches, and school, matters every day.
7th Grade Girls Basketball
The Lady Blackhawks faced off against the Central Spartans last night in an action-packed matchup. The B Team game was one for the history books, delivering nonstop excitement. In a thrilling finish, London Mosby drained a buzzer-beater to secure a dramatic 19–17 victory.
Leading scorers for the B Team were Adrian Roberts, Tauaana Duffy, and Mariah Hayes, with standout performances also coming from Alina Rodriguez, Julianna Ramierez, and Sofia Lampa.
The A Team battled hard against the Spartans but ultimately came up short. Makiah Shields, Winona Sika, and Harper Brown led the scoring, while Landry Tribble, Paula Betancourt, and Aria Wallace made strong contributions throughout the game.
8th Grade Girls Basketball
Your 8th grade girls basketball teams kept their undefeated records going last night winning both games at North Oaks.
The B team won in dominating fashion 41-17. Leading scorers were Arielle Gutierrez with 9 points, Mia Hernandez and Yaman Osman with 8 points. Outstanding players were Deliya Torrengano, Brooklyn Sharp and Meggan Todorov.
The A team completely dominated 39-1. Leading scorers were Harleigh Grahn with 8 points and Aryana Taylor and Lauren Skjeret with 7 points. Outstanding players were Aaliyah Donaldson, Eva Mancilla and Annalise Jackson.
The 8th grade girls play home next Thursday against Euless. Please come out and be loud.
The 8th grade girls play tonight against Euless in the Harwood gym at 5pm.
8th Grade Boys Basketball
It was a great night for Harwood Basketball as both the A Team and B Team earned dominant wins over North Oaks. From the opening tip, the Blackhawks controlled the game with energy, discipline, and strong team play on both ends of the floor.
The Blackhawks are back in action next Thursday at Euless Junior High as we take on the Euless Stallions. Let’s keep the momentum rolling.
The 8th grade boys play tonight against Euless at Euless JH at 5pm.
Soccer
Last Night, one of our boys’ soccer teams was back in action. Albion had a bye week, while the Blackhawks took on Hurst and fell 2–0. The score tells part of the story, but the real takeaway is about discipline, responsibility, and team standards.
Coach Megan made a firm decision to bench three starting players this week for classroom conduct issues, violations that also broke their signed player agreements. At Harwood, representing your team means representing your character. When classroom behaviour slips, so does your chance to play.
A clear game plan was given, and every player was told exactly what their role was. Out of the entire squad, only one player followed through, our goalkeeper, Jassiel Rodriguez, who not only carried out his instructions but stopped a penalty kick. His focus, effort, and respect for his role earned him Coach’s Man of the Match.
For the rest of the team, this was a wake-up call. Soccer, like life, demands effort, listening, and accountability. Ignoring instruction on the field mirrors what happens in class when directions go unheard. That connection matters.
Moving forward, Coach Megan expects stronger commitment from every player: to Harwood, their teammates, and themselves. Talent doesn’t win games, discipline does. The challenge is clear: learn from this, trust the process, and come back ready to earn your spot and your team’s respect.
