All schools will maintain an active after-school Robotics Club and participate in the district Robotics Competition and Science Showcase (should be included in SIP).
All schools will ensure students are involved in learning the scientific process & engineering design process and will host a school science & engineering fair.
All schools will embed Coding into their academic program either through an after school club, a resource/elective class, or science units. These activities should include but are not limited to VEX 123 (K-2) and VEX Go (3-5). (should be included in SIP).
All schools will have a minimum of one STEM Event to involve students, families, and community members.
All schools will integrate technology into curriculum and instruction: implement innovative teaching strategies, increase opportunities for students to apply knowledge, increase depth and breadth of students’ understanding of subjects taught, allow all students to participate meaningfully in the curriculum.
All 4-5 Science teachers will be expected to implement 2 PBL units or Content related STEM Challenges and provide documentation of the unit.
PBL/ STEM (Engineering Design Process) training will be available from Science Coordinator and/or STEM Grant Director through HCS C&I Department.
Teachers will be expected to implement the Engineering Design Process adopted by NC DPI.
