Hoke County Schools Assessment Dates
Please note that the testing window will no longer be open during staggered entry for kindergarten. This adjustment will allow time for teaching procedures and other preparatory activities before the beginning-of-year (BOY) testing window opens. These changes will provide a smoother transition for our students and staff at the start of the school year.
The updated testing windows are as follows:
BOY (Beginning of Year): September 2 - 23
MOY (Middle of Year): January 6 - 27
EOY (End of Year): April 27 - May 15
DIBELS 8 Assessment Invalidations
The process for invalidations will be as follows:
● Teacher requests approval for an invalidation from school administration
● School administration contacts district office
● The district approves invalidation (or not)
● If approved by the district, the school completes invalidation form and sends to district office
● Teacher invalidates the score and retests the student
● Invalidation reports are reconciled after each benchmark and shared with NCDPI
● Invalidations are shared in the SBE and JLEOC report annually through NCDDPI
Progress Monitoring
Progress monitoring is part of an effective instructional cycle and should occur between each benchmark window to guide instruction. See calendar of progress monitoring frequency
The frequency of progress monitoring should be based on student data to inform and determine instructional adjustments and supports.
Data from progress monitoring is to be used to group and re-group students for differentiated instruction
Please refer to guidelines as stated in the 2020 DIBELS 8 edition administration and scoring guide (pgs. 94-98)
