Hyneria was a large lobe finned fish, reaching up to 13 feet long. It had small eyes, and (as shown in the picture above) many fins. Hyneria had a modified swim bladder that it could use as primitive lungs. It may have even breathed air in oxygen-deprived waters. Hyneria had teeth growing up to 2 inches long, and it had a keen nose to detect prey, as its environment was quite murky. Hyneria had powerful fins, and was closely related to amphibians, as they descended from lobe finned fish like Hyneria.
