Microsoft Authenticator is a free app for Android and iOS devices. It is installed on your smartphone, not on the computer.
Download the app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
After installing Microsoft Authenticator app, make sure notifications are allowed. Then add an account and select "Work or school"
Click next
After you scan the QR code with the Authenticator app (see below), click next.
Ensure that notifications are allowed for Authenticator.
Add account, select "Work or school" and scan the QR code. You will need to allow the app to access your camera.
Click the + in the upper right or tap the Add Account button
Select Work or school account
You will need to allow the app to access your camera
After adding your HCC Account to Authenticator go back to the computer and click next.
Watch for the push notification banner on your smartphone. Enter the number shown on the computer.
Never approve a login that you did not initiate.
If you delete the app or get a new device, you will need to re-register Authenticator to your HCC Account. See below to add an additional sign-in method.
After linking your account to the Authenticator app, it is recommended that you add a secondary method, such as your cell phone number.
With both you can still manage your authentication:
If you get a new device but keep your number, you can authenticate with SMS
If you get a new number but keep your device, you can authenticate with Authenticator
Go to https://aka.ms/mfasetup to add a new sign-in method.
Add your phone number
Now you are ready to use your HCC App with single sign-on (SSO) for all HCC resources. Go to https://hcc.edu/myhcc to try it out.
