When you visit websites, your browser stores information such as images, scripts, and cookies to help pages load faster and improve your browsing experience. While this normally improves performance, stored browser data can sometimes cause problems, especially when accessing HCC resources.
For example:
You may see an outdated version of a webpage, form, or document.
Old cookies can interfere with authentication, particularly when using Single Sign-On (SSO) or switching between multiple accounts, such as personal and HCC accounts.
You may encounter access errors, repeated sign-in prompts, failed logins, or pages that do not load correctly after an application or website has been updated.
Most browsers automatically check for updated content, but this process is not always reliable. Over time, outdated cached files and cookies can create conflicts that affect access to online services.
Clearing your browser's cache and cookies can often resolve these issues by removing outdated data and allowing the browser to download fresh content and authentication information.
If you're not sure whether browser data is causing the problem, first test the site in a private or incognito window. If it works there, clearing your cache and cookies may resolve the issue in your regular browser session.
Be aware that clearing cookies may:
Sign you out of websites.
Remove saved website preferences.
Require you to sign in again to websites and applications.
For this reason, it is helpful to know your passwords and have access to your multi-factor authentication (MFA) methods before clearing browser data.
