Using CS First, I created a gaming story, a racing game, and a maze game because I thought it would be fun to do. I also made a platform game and an escape game. I made these by using code and sprite's on scratch. i I created these things by watching videos on CS First then going into scratch and building the different things.
During this process, I learned how to use "if then" blocks to make the sprite's do something if they are touching another thing. I also learned how to add my own variable to a game. One last thing that I learned how to do is change the color of something like a balloon repeatedly.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Computational thinker because you are working with computers and you actually have to use your brain to do some of the things because some of them can be difficult.
A challenge I overcame on this project was getting the if then blocks to work correctly. I was able to do it by looking more at the videos and watching exactly what she did. Another challenge I overcame was getting the Add-ons to work correctly. I was able to do it by going back through the videos and looking closely at them.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the number of add-ons that I did. The reason why I would change it is because for some of them I only did one while for others I did 2 and I would have liked to do 3. I also probably would have looked at the directions in google classroom better because I felt rushed to do them at the end of the week because I did them all on Cospaces instead of CS First.

My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in game design.
