Are you working by yourself or in a team?
In a team
What materials will you need for your project?
computer, ruler,3d printer
What is your plan to create in this project?
volleyball net
What unique qualities will your project have?
It will have a ball that you can hit oveer with your fingers.
Day 1: we started figuring out what we are going to make for our project.
Day 2: we started planning our project and the sizes we are going to make it.
Day 3: Finished up our sizes, and started working on Tinker Cad.
Day 4:we started making a basketball hoop instead.
Day 5: back to the volleyball net, almost finished the design.
Day 6: we printed our finial project.
Day 7: Added reflections and finial project.
Using the 3D printer, ruler, I created a usable mini volleyball net. I made a mini volleyball net because I think it is cool to be able to play volleyball inside and it being small. Another reason we made it is because volleyball is fun and why not be able to play it inside!
During this process, I learned that it is not easy to make stuff on the 3D printer that is completely even. I know this because it happened to me and the pieces came out not even but in the end it worked out great.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer. My project ties to Innovative Designer because we made up our own ideas and we ended up staying with our original idea.
A challenge I overcame on this project was not being able to make it as big as we wanted it because of the limited space on the 3D printer surface. We also had to make it laying down or it wouldn't print right. I was able to do it by just making it 5 inches instead of like 20 inches like we wanted and we realized it is actually easier to make it laying down.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the ball. The reason why I would change it is because it would be cool if the ball would have been bigger and have been hallow in the middle so it is easier to hit.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the engineering design CTE program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers in product designer because it makes different prototypes and designs that you can make and print off. Which is what we did.
