Are you working by yourself or in a team?
By myself
What materials will you need for your project?
Camera, Micro Bit, Batteries, and a cord.
What is your plan to create in this project?
My name, Smiley face, Rock paper scissors, cubes appearing and disappearing
What unique qualities will your project have?
It will have my name on it, and have cool different designs.
Day 1: Made a new page, daily log, list of ten, and planning questions, getting ideas for what to make,
Day 2: Made the micro bit say my name.
Day 3: Made the micro: bit play rock paper scissors, made a heart,
Day 4: Made different things with the micro bit.
Day 5: Made the micro bit say Hastings Middle School, made a smiley face turn into a sad face, then into a straight face then back into a smiley face.
Day 6: figured out how to pass notes to each other and ask questions to people.
Day 7: Passed more notes, made a love meter and figured out how it worked. I started making rock paper scissors .
Day 8: I finished rock paper scissors, but it didn't work right, started making dice roll game.
Day 9: Finished dice roll game, which worked good, added reflection of my project.
My micro bit saying my name.
Using Micro: Bit, computer, also a iPad, I created different codes for the Micro: Bit like a love meter, and also a dice roll. because I wanted to work on multiple projects, also I thought it would be cool, and you wouldn't normally just get to code a Micro: Bit.
During this process, I learned how to code a micro bit and how to pass notes to a different person, and that it isn't super hard to code a Micro: Bit
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to a knowledge constructor because, when I need to learn about a code for the Micro: Bit I would look up a video to learn how to do it.
A challenge I overcame on this project was that passing notes was not working at first. I was able to do it by watching a video and learning how it works, also not giving up if it is hard and not working right.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change that I didn't make flappy bird. The reason why I would change it is because I think it would be cool to make flappy bird and not make different small codes and just focus on one code at a time and make it a good one.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the computer programming CTE program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers in software engineering because I had to program the micro: bit inside the computer, which is a lot like a software engineer. Also coding in general. I designed my own codes for the micro: bit. It is cool to do this because it shows how good technology is and how it has gotten way better.
