Are you working by yourself or in a team?
By myself
What materials will you need for your project?
iPad, Sphero cube, Sphero Edu app.
What is your plan to create in this project?
Make the Sphero cube go around obstacles.
What unique qualities will your project have?
It will be made by me and my own codes that I made.
Day 1: Added a list of ten and planning questions, and daily log.
Day 2: Finished list of ten, messed around with different types of robots.
Day 3: Did a random code that I made up and messed around.
Day 4: Made the sphero cube go around obstacles.
Day 4: Code
Day 5: Made a code so it will go into a triangle and back to me.
Day 6: Messed around with the sphereo mini for the second time.
Day 7: Finished up daily log, added reflections on my project.
Using Sphero and Sphero mini, iPad I created cool codes. For example I made the sphero go around colored pencils and made my own code to make it work I made the codes because I feel like it is cool that I can make my own codes and make a robot (sphero) go around obstacles and also different codes, like making the sphero go and then come back to me. I think it is very cool that you can make your own codes to make a robot move.
During this process, I learned how to code a robot/ sphero. Before this class I had no idea how to code a robot. I used a sphero. The way I figured out how to code the robot is by trial and error. If I made a mistake I tried again and I didn't give up. I realized it really wasn't that hard to code once you get used to it.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Digital Citizen because I used technology and made a video of my sphero on my iPad and then moved it to my computer to put on my website for everyone to see.
A challenge I overcame on this project was not having the robot go the correct way when I played my code. I was able to do it by finding the aim button. I was confused why the code wasn't making the sphero go in the correct way but I realized we had to aim it. Once I clicked on the aim button and seen the arrow on the sphero. I aimed that the way I wanted it to go and it worked correct. It took me a couple tries but I finally got it to work right.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the codes I made. I wish that I would have made the robot to a dance move or something. The reason why I would change it is because I feel like it would very cool to make a robot to a dance. I would have rather made a longer code than a couple little codes. It would have been cool afterwards if I worked all on a big code.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers in Robot Programing because I am programing different robots to do different codes like go through a maze and more. I am testing out my codes and making the codes control the robots and make them do different things. Overall I made the codes then programmed it to my robot, then the robot did the code that I made it do. Then I tested it out and made it right if it's wrong and doesn't work right.
