Are you working by yourself or in a team?
By myself.
What materials will you need for your project?
I will need the tinkercad website and Mr. Renner has 3D printers that we can use.
What is your plan to create in this project?
I am going to make sure the book mark is going to be able to save on the page so I don't have to worry about losing it.
What unique qualities will your project have?
It won't be like a normal bookmark and it won't fall out.
I made my list of ten and started on my bookmark.
I got a lot of my bookmark done but I want to do a get more touches and tweaking to make sure it fits into my book.
Today I grouped everything and made it one project and I added a little heart and I am going to add my horses name tomorrow.
I finished everything up and added my STL to google classroom
Using tinkercad and 3D printers , I created a bookmark because people rip my other bookmarks out of my books so I needed something to keep my place when I am reading. It ended up not working because it printed with supports on the inside so it was more stable. I wish I would of thought of that when I was creating the bookmark.
During this process, I learned that 3D printers automatically put supports on the inside of the project if it is hollow. I also learned how to work with tinkercad so I can make thing's to solve real problems that happen in someone's day to day life. I also learned that my 3D print was a little too small that was why I couldn't take the support out without it breaking.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to empowered learner because I chose what I wanted to make and then pursued the goal. I wanted to make a bookmark no one told me to make a bookmark
A challenge I overcame on this project was getting the sizing right to make sure everything would fit right. I was able to do it by taking a ruler and mesuring my book pages to see how big I wanted the bookmark to be. Another challenge I also overcame was making sure the walls on the sides were the same size and attached properly.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the layout of my bookmark. The reason why I would change it is because my book mark wasn't able to go on the corner of the page like what I wanted. I would also change the color of my project so it could be a purple or navy blue instead of white.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers in marine engineering because marine engineering uses multiple different forms of engineering into the job. Marine Engineers use mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, and computer science, to the development, design, operation and maintenance of watercraft propulsion and ocean systems. I personally think this would be a very cool job.
