Are you working by yourself or in a team?
It depends on what I am doing, but I will mostly be working by myself.
What materials will you need for your project?
My computer, the micro bit, a speaker from old Chromebook
What is your plan to create in this project?
Using the micro bit website I will code the micro bit to do the things that I want it to do.
What unique qualities will your project have?
It will be made by me.
I made the micro bit spell my name
I made the micro bit spell HOT TO GO when I turn the logo upside down and I tried to connect a speaker to the micro bit but was having a bit of trouble
I figured out how to play music through my headphones only not the actually speaker so that is what I am going to work on more tomorrow
I got the sound to play through the speaker and did a decent song ish and it sounded fine
Today I made a step counter and started working on a more sensitive counter
I finshed the sstep counter and made a smiley sad face thing
Today I made a Beating heart and a turtle.
Today I made a thermometer, walking arrow, a dice and a sun.
I recently used the micro website to create different projects as part of learning how to code. We were taught how to program the micro to do fun things, like make animations, play games, and even control lights. It was a hands-on experience that helped me understand how coding works in real life, and I enjoyed seeing my ideas come to life!
During this process, I learned how to write code that would show up on my micro and how to use audio features. It was exciting to see the messages I programmed appear on the micro’s screen and to hear sounds I created. This helped me understand how coding can control both visuals and sound!
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner because I had a role in choosing what was going to make on the micro bit. I had the freedom to choose what I wanted to work on and I had the option to complete it or not.
One challenge I faced while working on my project was connecting the speakers to the micro bit. At first, I wasn’t sure how to do it, but I figured it out by watching other people and following different YouTube tutorials. After trying a few things, I was finally able to connect the speakers, and it worked! It was a good learning experience, and I’m proud that I didn’t give up.
If I had the chance to do this project again, I would change the amount of time I spent on it. I would do this because I’d like to have more time to create a really complex code that does something specific, like playing a certain song. With extra time, I could focus more on getting the details just right.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the computer programming CTE program at Hastings High School. There are lots of different jobs that involve computer programming. You could be a software developer or a mobile phone game apps create.
My project connects to careers in software developer because people who do software development have to code different things but it is way more complex. If you like coding and want to do a job in coding you have a lot of different job that you could chose based on your skill sets and what you like do to. There are millions of jobs you can chose from when it comes to wanting to do something with coding.
