8PX - HMS Tour

Reflection:

• Using a camera and a microphone, I created a tour of Hastings Middle School because it was a unique project that I was passionate about. We filmed the 8th Grade hallway (upstairs and downstairs). Next, we filmed the 7th Grade hallway, and the 6th Grade hallway.

• During this process, I learned how to splice videos together using video editing. Because of students in the background of our videos we had to change how we filmed the different areas of the school. The original plan was to record one hallway at a time but we changed this and recorded different segments of the hallway and merged them together.

• The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Creative Communicator because I had to talk with my group on where and how to record the videos. We all gave ideas and helped further the project this way.

• A challenge I overcame on this project was recording the video with "background students". I was able to do it by patiently waiting for them to exit the area. If they did not leave the area we would change our course and record somewhere else.

• Given a chance to do this again, I would change the plan for recording the videos. The reason why I would change it is because a lot of discussion on how and when to film the videos. This toke away time from the project and It would have been better to just start off with a good structured plan.

• Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Digital Multimedia CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in touring coordinating and tour managing.
