I am working with 3 other people on this project.
I will need Keva logs, an iPad, and a computer.
I plan to create a Keva log version of the Lincoln Memorial.
My project will be displaying a historical site in a fun way.
Using Keva Logs, I created the Lincoln Memorial because it was a fun way to display a historical marker/historical site. I created the base with three steps and created front and back pillars. I then put logs on top of the front and back pillars and created a roof. I also have a couple logs meant to resemble a chair in the middle.
During this process, I learned how to balance the Keva logs so that they would not fall over. I placed them so that they interlocked and would not fall over. I did this with the walls and with the roof.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to because Creative Communicator. It ties to this because I had to communicate with my classmates in order to problem solve and improve the structure.
A challenge I overcame on this project was table shaking. I was able to do it by making sure that my project was standing on a sturdy, steadfast base. This way the table shaking had little impact on whether my structure would fall over.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the middle of the structure. The reason why I would change it is because I would add a Lego figure representing Abraham Lincoln. I did not have enough time to add this.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Construction Trades CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in architecture and building design.
I started thinking of things to build and got out the logs.
I built the Lincoln Memorial and my partners built their projects.
I started the reflection, list of 10 good ideas, and planning questions. I redid the Lincoln Memorial built it back better.
I finished the reflection, planning questions, and list of 10 good ideas. I added the images and videos and gave the images captions.
This is the final product. I completed this on Day III.
I added two pieces in the back after this picture.
