I am working by myself
I will need the robots, an iPad, and a computer.
I plan to create patterns that the robot will follow.
A unique quality that my project has is that both the Sphero Mini and the Sphero Bolt were programmed.
Using Sphere Edu, I created patterns that different robots could use to move around because It was creative and fun to make. I started driving the robot and programming it to do different shape. Finally, I used a different robot the Sphero Bolt.
During this process, I learned how to program a robot to drive and how to operate it. I also programmed it to drive in a custom pattern. I learned how to create patterns like a triangle or a rectangle.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner because I had to learn how to drive and program the robot. I also had to learn how to learn how to connect to the Sphero Bolt robot.
A challenge I overcame on this project was learning how to properly program the robot. I was able to do it by figuring out what angle to turn the robot to first. Then I would add the angle number (90) to itself to make a rectangle.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the triangular design for the third day. The reason why I would change it is because I could make it more detailed. For example I could have made a more intricate design like an octagon or a hexagon.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in computer engineering and robotic engineering.
I learned how to drive the robot around the room using the iPad.
I learned how to program the robot and how to make it do a rectangular 2 by 3 pattern
I programmed my robot to drive in a custom triangle shape.
I learned how to drive a Sphero Bolt which is a new type of robot.
This is an image from Day 1 where I was learning how to drive the robot.
This is an image from Day 4 when I was learning how to drive and program the Sphero Bolt robot.
