I am working with a team of 4 other people on this project.
I will need a Sphero Bolt, an iPod, and a computer.
We are planning to create a 2v2 game with rules.
My project is unique because it is a team work oriented game.
Using Spheros, I created a 1v1 fighting game because it was a fun competitive game that required communication with my classmates. We made an arena with a hole, this hole was an escaping point. There were two robots one trying to escape through the hole, and the bigger robot, trying to prevent this.
During this process, I learned how to properly operate a sphero bolt. I also learned how to code the sphero and make it follow a set course. Along with this I learned how to scream drive (make it drive with audio cues).
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to because Creative Communicator because I worked with a team of 5 to help make the arena and battle. It was a team effort that required communication between us to achieve our goals.
A challenge I overcame on this project was disconnecting robots. I was able to do it by separating the robots from each other. Separated, the robots would not disconnect and connect to other people.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the arena size. The reason why I would change it is because the arena was a little small and with more size the game would last longer. This would also allow us to have a 2v1 game with two big robots and one small one.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in computer coding and robotics.
We learned how to use and operate the sphero bolts. We also began constructing the arena.
