The School Action Plan outlines the whole school priorities for the year. They were identified by the Senior Strategy Team.
These priorities are at the centre of the schools’ continued drive to bring about further improvement in the quality of provision for its pupils and the levels of attainment they reach.

Improvement Priority 1: Leadership and Governance
Ensure the long-term future and identity of HWINS
Maintain high standards and preserve the distinct character of an infant school, while considering the ‘One Journey, Two Schools’ approach.
Achieve financial stability
Secure a sustainable budget to support the school’s ongoing provision and development.
Strengthen parental engagement
Foster meaningful parent partnerships that have a positive impact on pupil achievement and wellbeing.
Improvement Priority 2: Curriculum, Teaching and Achievement
Review and develop the English curriculum
Ensure pupils build secure, deep, and fluent knowledge that prepares them for the next stage of learning.
Revise the RE curriculum to ensure it reflects the new Richmond Syllabus
Review the PSHE curriculum ensure it reflects the new RHSE guidance for September 2026.
Embed oracy and vocabulary development
Integrate structured speaking and vocabulary skills into all medium-term planning.
Refine planning and teaching
Use clear milestones and defined outcomes to drive ongoing improvements in teaching practice.
Accelerate progress for pupils eligible for PPG
Implement tailored strategies to help disadvantaged pupils overcome significant barriers to learning.
Enhance assessment in foundation subjects
Develop robust assessment methods to measure and support pupil progress across all foundation subjects.
Early Years Focus:
Fully embed the revised EYFS framework
Secure consistency and high standards in Early Years provision.
Strengthen Nursery provision for 5-term attendees
Develop the environment to support younger children, ensuring smooth transitions into Nursery.
Upskill staff through Early Years Level 3 training
Invest in staff professional development to improve quality of provision.
Improvement Priority 3: Inclusion
Meet the needs of children with complex needs
Ensure all pupils, including those with complex needs, acquire the knowledge and skills needed to access the full curriculum and transition successfully to their next phase.
Launch the Early Bird Plus parenting support group
Provide targeted support for parents of children with additional needs.
Improvement Priority 4: Behaviour
Implement a bereavement policy and staff training
Equip staff and parents to support children experiencing loss, through policy development and dedicated workshops.
Review and update the behaviour policy
Ensure the policy reflects current best practice and school values.
Deliver behaviour training for SMSAs and support staff
Strengthen consistency and effectiveness in managing pupil behaviour at all times of the school day.
Improvement Priority 5: Personal Development and Wellbeing
Promote racial justice and anti-racism
Build an inclusive classroom culture by embedding anti-racist practices across the curriculum.
Improvement Priority 6: Attendance
Reduce persistent absenteeism (PA)
Implement strategies to lower the percentage of pupils who are persistently absent.
Improve attendance among PPG pupils
Target support and interventions to ensure disadvantaged pupils have consistently high attendance.

Ensure governors are fully involved and informed about safeguarding practices.
