Samband manns og náttúru
Ýmsir fræðimenn hafa velt fyrir sér sambandi manns og náttúru
Andreas Weber:
„To give back dignity and value to the notion of aliveness within our worldview. Both in our general worldview and within the most crucial aspects in our worldview which is the material distribution of things and its economy. This is the most important, the crucial point that is to reconsider that everything we do on this planet, in our own reality is in line with our own life – to our own liveness and has to do with our relating to other beings who are also alive.”
Henry David Thoreau:
„I wish to speak a word for Nature, for absolute freedom and wildness, as contrasted with a freedom and culture merely civil—to regard man as an inhabitant, or a part and parcel of Nature, rather than a member of society“.
„When we walk, we naturally go to the fields and woods: what would become of us, if we walked only in a garden or a mall?“
Henry David Thoreau:
„The wildwood covers the virgin mould, and the same soil is good for men and for trees.“
Þetta er nátengt því sem Weber er að velta fyrir sér þegar hann talar um þær umhverfislegu hættur sem skapast þegar „maðurinn“ álítur sig æðri öðru lífi á jörðinni.
Thoreau segir líka:
„While almost all men feel an attraction drawing them to society, few are attracted strongly to Nature. In their reaction to Nature men appear to me for the most part, notwithstanding their arts, lower than the animals. It is not often a beautiful relation, as in the case of the animals”.
Í lok greinarinnar Walking talar Thoreau um COHABITACY í samhenginu af coexisting.
