Soviet KLPZ Duplex

The KLPZ 250-14 5161-72 (numbers appearing on the front left end of the rule's front face) was fabricated by the company SCHETNII INSTRUMENTI KIEV, Ruler Appliances Plant, based in Ukraine, when this country was part of the old Soviet Union, by 1977 (according with the number displayed on the left end of the rule's back face).

I think this was one of the last slide rules fabricated in the Soviet Union, after the advent of the soviet electronic pocket calculators in the early 1970's. Fabricated entirely in white plastic, body and braces, all plastic cursor, and scales engraved on, this duplex rule is well suited for advanced engineering applications. With a 16-scales set: T1, K, A [ B, CIF, CI, C ] D, ST, Ssin, Scos on the front face, and LL3, LL2, LL1, L [Instructions] Constant Values on the back face, four extended scales and the way these scale set is labeled, this rule resembles an Aristo or Faber Castell Darmstadt rule.

Watching the KLPZ specimens in the ISRM URSS-Soviet Era page, this model was the high-end product, considering that all the previous produced rules were of the Mannheim type, fabricated from wood covered with celluloid, very similar to the K&E-4043 or to the Dietzgen Phillips.

With this rule, an skillful user can solve the net problem with a precision of two-three decimals:
