Keuffel  &  Esser   Doric  N-9081-3, 9071-3 & 9068

The K&E Doric Family was manufactured in the United States from 1961 to 1975. Fabricated with Ivorite, (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) CYCOLAC Resin ), a smooth, white, and long wearing plastic, glass cursor with metallic frames screwed to plastic ends, and hold with metallic braces. Doric slide rules were single sided and duplex.

The single sided model: the 4150-1 ( 6 inches), used for basic financial operations involving multiplication, division and proportions, was very a simple with only six scales: DF [ CF, CI, C ] D, L; the rule and the slider backs were blank. This rule was a remake of a previous model: the 9050-1.

There were two versions of the Doric Duplex model, according with the number of scales:

The main difference between these versions were the Log-Log scales on the N-9081, and the radian and DI scales on the 9071-3.

Both Doric Duplex models were suitable for science and engineering applications. A skillful slide rule user can easily solve the page 1 and 2 with the 9068 or 9071-3 models, and all pages with the N-9081-3.

Next is the User Manual for the Doric 9068 model.  For the Doric 9071-3 can be used the Manual for the 4070 Duplex Trig. For the Doric N-9081-3 can be used the manual for the N4081-3 Log-Log Duplex Decitrig.

Note: Previous to the 9068 model, K&E produced the same plastic rule but with the name Doric 10000; also a 10 inches version was manufactured and labeled Doric 10002. These rules are difficult to find and are coveted jewels for collectors. It is not known how many of these rules were produced, or the exact year they began to be commercialized, they did not appear in any K&E catalog or price list. The only dated reference of the time these models were possibly produced is a User Manual with with copyrights 1939, 1947, but only was illustrated the 10002 model.
