Teledyne Post Versalog II 1460 & 1461

The POST Versaog II was also manufactured in Japan by the Company HEMMI Bamboo Slide Rule Company Ltd., and commercialized in the United States by Frederick Post Company from 1969 to 1975, with a selling price of $32.75 USD (about $182.00 in 2020), In 1975 this company went out of business. Frederick Post Co, began to commercialize the Sun Hemmi rules in 1931. There was a break during the WWII years with Japan.

This rule replaced the Versalog model an it was also fabricated from a large-diameter variety of bamboo grown in Kagoshima Prefecture on the island of Kyushu, coated on all sides (except the ends) with white celluloid, and held together with metal posts. The glass indicator has a metal frame screwed to plastic ends. The Versalog II was manufactured in two sizes: 1460 (rule 12 in long, scales 10 in long), and 1461 (rule 7 in long, scales 5 in long).

In 1972, five years after Teledyne Inc. acquired The Frederick Post Co., The Versalog II 1460 was branded Teledyne Post and given a new model number: 44CA-600, while the the pocket 1461 became the model 44DA-610. The main differences between the Versalog and the Versalog II are: scales new positions and the extra scale A. The 24 scales on the Versalog II were: LogX, LL/1, LL/2, LL/3 [ T/T, SecT/ST, Cos/S, C ] D, LL3, LL2, LL1 on the front face, and LL/00, K, A, DF [ CF, CIF, CI, C ] D, R1, R2, LL0 on the back face.

Same as the the former Versalog model, the Versalog II was a very popular rule among engineers. It was well constructed, precise and beautiful, Considered by experts and myself one of the best slides rules produced, it is considered a classic and also a must have for collectors.
