Keuffel & Esser GP-12

The GP-12 model was manufactured in the United States form 1964 until 1972, the year K&E filed bankruptcy because the collapse of the slide rule market caused by the electronic pocket calculators surge. It was fabricated with white Ivorite, (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) CYCOLAC Resin ), a smooth, white, and long wearing plastic. Scales were printed on the Ivorite, and the indicator was made all plastic glued on also plastic ends. The rule's stators (body) are also glued to plastic braces, so the rule never lose its calibration.

K&E presented this rule as developed to help the average person solve the everyday math problems that occur in business, science and industry... Because the slide rule is almost the right arm of the engineer, a lot of people shy away from it assuming that you have to be a "brain" to learn it, But, truly there's nothing though or mysterious about slide rules at all. Millions of school children have learned to use them, practically before they "could walk"

In the user manual is also stated: Students in all fields can use it, as well as workmen and businessmen in every kind of commercial and industrial field. Engineers will still want one of our superpower rules, such as the DECI-LON Engineering-Science rule; but most other people the GP-12 is a good choice.

This rule has a similar modernistic shape like the DECI-LON, but with only 16 scales: Sq1, Sq2, DF [ CF, T Cot, SRT, S Cos, , CI, C ] D, A, K on the front face, and cm (number) [ number, Conversions, logarithm ] inch (logarithm) on the back face. it was produced in only one size: 12.5 in long, scales 10 in long:

The user manual illustrates very well the wide variety of problems that can be solved with the GP-12, motivating the users stating: You will be able to learn to use the GP-12 easily and from that point on, you'll never be without it. The user manual is very friendly and clear:
