Dear parents and Global Jaya School Community,
October has been an exciting month for Hawks students in the MYP Programme!
Grade 10:
Students are continuing to work on the IB MYP Personal Project. Criterion A is due on September 27th. Please review the GJS Personal Project website to view weekly updates and due dates. Great questions to ask your student:
How is your product coming along? Would you like me to give you any feedback on your product?
Do you need any support with time management?
Describe for me your learning goal and your product goal.
We were so pleased to have so many parents come to the GJS MYP Personal Project Parent Information Session. Parents did an amazing job collaborating to plan a mini personal project. Click here to see the presentation. Please reach out to Ibu Popy (popy@globaljaya.com) or Ibu Sue (sue@globaljaya.com) with any questions.
Don’t forget to save the date for the year 10 Diploma Programme information session on November 13th! Pak Ram will be there, along with the Diploma Programme teachers.
Years 7 and 8:
Ask your child, what are you reading? Students went to the library last week and checked out a book for their Book Talk presentation that will take place the first week in November. Students will then work on their presentation skills to present their book for prizes from the library!
Years 7-10:
This year all MYP students at Global Jaya will take part in a mini Interdisciplinary Unit or IDU on October 18th and 28th. They will combine two subjects to create a new product that ties in with the week without walls. This IB MYP requirement combines their understanding of a topic while analyzing it from different perspectives to evaluate, synthesize and reflect on their learning.
Year 7: English and Performing Arts - The Arts of Expression
Year 8: Design and Bahasa Indonesia/Korean - Modern and Contemporary Batik
Year 9: Math and Science - Tarsius Conservation
Year 10: PHE and Individuals and Societies - Sustainable Fireless Cooking
MYP Teachers:
Global Jaya is pleased to host the IB PYP and MYP regional workshops on October 18th-20th. Click here to see all the workshops offered. We will have approximately 30 workshops with teachers from all over the Asia Pacific region. The majority of our IB MYP teachers will take part in the excellent training opportunities from the IB.
