Field Trip to Dunia Fantasi Ancol

As part of the front-loading activities for our current unit “How the World Works,” with the central idea “Humans apply their understanding of scientific forces to create and problem solve,” on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, the Year 5 went on a field trip to Dunia Fantasi theme park located at Ancol in the North Jakarta. The goal of the field trip is to expose the students to the real-life application of the concept of scientific forces, such as spring force, gravitational force, magnetic force, friction force, etc.

On the day of the field trip, the Year 5 left Global Jaya at 7:50 AM. The Year 5 were fortunate enough that the traffic on the way to Ancol was quite light, so we arrived there around 9 AM. Since we had some time before Dunia Fantasi opened its gates, the Year 5 decided to have a break at the beachside in the Ancol area near the Dunia Fantasi. After we had our break, we decided to walk around the beach to stretch our legs for a while before we went to Dunia Fantasi.

In the Dunia Fantasi, the Year 5 students went around from one ride to another, identifying the simple machine principles used in each ride, taking notes and documentation, and trying out some of the rides. Around 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, we stopped for a while to have lunch and also to allow some of our students to do their prayer. After lunch, we continued our activities for a while before heading back to Global Jaya at 13:45 PM.
