Dear Primary Parents,
The Primary Mid-semester Conference will be held on October 3rd and 4th. During these conferences, students will have the opportunity to share their learning journey, explain their understanding, and reflect on their goals and achievements. It is an event that needs to be celebrated, as it highlights both their academic progress and personal growth.
In preparation for these conferences, one really important habit that we as parents can build is to have quality conversations with our children about school. Quality conversations do not elicit a simple yes or no response. Here are some student-led questions you might ask during the conference:
"What is something new you have learned that you’re proud of?"
"Can you explain how you worked through a challenge in your learning?"
"What goals have you set for yourself, and how do you plan to achieve them?"
"Which piece of work are you most excited to share with us, and why?"
"What strategies are you using to improve in areas you find difficult?"
Additionally, teachers have been working with students to set individual goals, which will be made visible during the conferences. These goals are an integral part of their learning journey. We encourage you, as parents, to help reinforce and support the goals your children have set for themselves. By discussing their progress, encouraging perseverance, and celebrating milestones, you play a key role in motivating your child to stay focused on their personal growth and development.
