On Monday, September 9th, our school celebrated International Literacy Day with various engaging activities designed for Primary and Secondary students. Led by the Library Team and held in the library, the event was a dynamic and joyful celebration of storytelling, creativity, and the love of reading.
The day was filled with excitement for the primary students as they enjoyed storytelling sessions with the beloved Pak Jake, who shared captivating tales during break and lunchtime. The younger students were enthralled by his performances, with many eagerly gathering to listen to stories that sparked their imaginations.
In Upper Primary, originality flourished with a comic drawing activity, where students combined their love for art and storytelling by making original comic strips. This activity allowed our budding artists to express themselves through illustrations, uniquely showing their talents.
The Primary and Secondary students also participated in more interactive and inventive activities. Students added their aspirations to the Wishing Tree, where they shared their literary dreams and thoughts. These wishes created a meaningful display of hope and ambition for their reading journeys.
They also participated in the Book Donation Drive, a great success. Students across all age groups generously donated gently used books, supporting the spread of literacy throughout the local community.
The Literacy Day celebrations encouraged a love of reading and fostered a sense of community and inventiveness among our students. Thank you to the Library team, Secondary ASA FLY students, and all who contributed; it was a day filled with inspiration, learning, and fun.
We’re already looking forward to the following library events, where we hope to build on this year’s success!
