On September 20th, the Reception students proudly demonstrated their knowledge of a Healthy Lifestyle to their parents and fellow students from various year levels. The theme of their performance was "Health Magazine." The students were divided into five groups, focusing on the following topics: healthy eating, exercise, getting enough sleep, handwashing, and being a good friend. Each group presented their topic on stage, showcasing their enthusiasm and creativity.
The "Healthy Eating" group acted as fruits and vegetables, and wore colourful outfits, underlining the importance of a balanced diet. The "Exercise" group, wore their sporty costumes, and showcased a lively exercise that was popular back in the 90s: SKJ, motivating everyone to stay active and fit. The "Get Enough Sleep" group emphasized the significance of a good night's rest. They shared their bedtime routines, conveying the message that sleep is vital for growth, learning, and overall well-being.
In the "Wash Hands" segment, students presented a funny yet informative skit highlighting the significance of hygiene. They demonstrated how washing hands with soap and water effectively keeps the germs away.
Lastly, the "Be a Good Friend" group highlighted the emotional aspect of health. They discussed kindness, empathy, and the value of supporting one another. Through role-play, they illustrated how being a good friend is important in making their life healthy and happy.
Parents and teachers beamed with pride as they witnessed the young students confidently deliver such essential messages with joy. The event wrapped up with a lively dance performance that included audience participation. The reception students excelled in showcasing tips for a healthy lifestyle, motivating everyone to adopt positive changes in their everyday routines.
In Reception, we embarked on an exciting journey of exploring numbers, focusing on the recognition of numbers up to 7. We set up three engaging centers for rotation:
Number Recognition Station - here children matched number cards with groups of objects;
Counting and Sorting Center - here they sorted items like coloured blocks to reinforce their counting skills;
and an iPad Interactive Math Games Center - where students engaged in fun, educational games to enhance their number skills.
Through these activities, the students enhanced their number recognition and counting skills while having fun!
