Dear MYP Global Jaya School Community,
IDU and Service as Action:
We are so pleased to have a successful Week Without Walls and Interdisciplinary Unit (IDU) experience. This year we combined Service as Action with the Week Without Walls. By the end of year 10 students must complete all seven of the learning outcomes and write their service reflections. Please see the GJS Service as Action website for more information. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to give back to the community and to learn outside the classroom. In addition, the day before the Week Without Walls, students learned about their IDU. Then, when they returned, students completed their product to demonstrate their learning. The IDU is a requirement for all MYP students to combine 2 or more subjects with a product that synthesizes their learning.
Year 7 - English and Performing Arts
Year 8 - Bahasa Indonesia and Design
Year 9 - Mathematics and Science
Year 10 - Physical Health Education and Individuals and Societies
Students will receive a mark on their semester 1 report under the subject area. However, this will not impact their final mark in that subject. The emphasis is on their learning and understanding gained by combining their learning with two or more subjects. For more information on the IDU, please refer to this link from the IB or email Ibu Sue - sue@globaljaya.com
Personal Project updates - Year 10:
Year 10 students are hard at work on their MYP personal project products. They must complete their product, or make significant progress on it by the 29th of November and finish their criteria B - on the ATL skills by December 13th. Please encourage your child to meet with their supervisor and continue to work on their product. Some questions to ask your year 10 student:
Which ATL skill will you use to develop your learning goal? (Communication, Research, Social, Self-Management, Thinking)
Which ATL skill will you use to develop your product goal? (Communication, Research, Social, Self-Management, Thinking)
When was the last time you met with your supervisor?
How will you get feedback from others on your product?
What can I do to support you with your personal project?
Please check the weekly plan on the GJS MYP Personal Project website to see what they are working on this week.
