The entire GJS learning community recently celebrated the opening of a brand-new soccer field, creating a fantastic space for both students and staff to enjoy. Following the official ribbon-cutting, primary grades had the chance to experience the field firsthand. Year 2 students grouped up for several friendly games, bringing energy and excitement to the day.
After an action-packed session and a lot of fun, everyone headed back to class, feeling both tired and accomplished. The new field promises to be a cornerstone for sports and activities at GJS, offering members of the GJS Teams countless opportunities to develop their skills and build teamwork in a top-notch facility. Overall, it was a memorable day that marked the beginning of many more active and enjoyable moments on the field.
On October 10, 2024, Year 2 celebrated World Mental Health Day, diving into the importance of mental well-being for overall health. Through discussions, students learned how mental health affects every part of our lives and why it deserves attention and care. To make the learning experience more engaging, students created Paper Plate Feeling Masks, a fun and creative activity allowing them to express emotions and showcase what they learned about feelings and self-care. Students were also making the happy calm jar which the students decorated and filled a jar with items representing happiness.
This hands-on activity gave students a chance to display their artistic skills and reflect on the valuable insights they gained. The day wrapped up with smiles, new understanding, and a lot of enthusiasm, marking an inspiring and memorable World Mental Health Day for Year 2.
