We rehearsed and practiced for the assembly we had on Friday, October 25th. The short play was about our unit of inquiry, Sharing The Planet. In this unit, we were studying the six major biomes around the world and the various food webs and ecosystems that can be found in them. We also will look at how human activity has impacted these biomes and what positive changes can be made to help these biomes recuperate and flourish. Our assembly tried to showcase some of the themes we have been learning in a fun way, where students could practice their memorization, acting, and public speaking skills.
We had our exposition of our culmination project on Wednesday, October 30th. The children created dioramas for their chosen biome, as well as a research paper and presentation demonstrating all that they have learned in this unit. They also had a Bahasa Indonesia component to their presentation and this project was very transdisciplinary in nature as it combined many subjects into one culminating project. Students analyzed the food webs and ecosystems associated with their chosen biome, as well as the characteristics and reflections on humanity’s impact on them.
