It was an action-packed couple of weeks for Global Jaya School’s sports teams, with both soccer and volleyball teams showing determination and skill on the field and court.
On October 17th, we hosted two soccer matches against SPH-KV, and the results were nothing short of impressive. Our Varsity Boys Soccer Team delivered a dominant performance, securing a decisive 9-1 victory. The Varsity Girls Soccer Team also reached a major milestone by earning their first win of the season with a solid 4-2 victory. A strong start from the girls set the tone for the match, and they maintained their momentum to secure the win.
A few days later, on October 19th, most of our teams were back in action. Our Varsity Boys and Girls Volleyball Teams faced the Australian Independent School (AIS) and came out on top, winning both matches 2-0. The boys' team’s win confirmed their spot in the finals, while the girls narrowly missed advancing by just two points in the final standings—an impressive effort nonetheless.
Our U15 Boys Basketball Team also took on AIS in what was a close and competitive game. Despite their efforts, they fell short, losing 28-45. The game showcased their potential and determination, and they’ll be looking to bounce back next year.
Our Varsity Boys and Girls Soccer Teams traveled to ACG Jakarta on the same day. The girls' team fought hard but were defeated 6-2. However, the last 15 minutes saw them come together and play strongly as a team, showing great promise for future matches. The boys' team played a strategically challenging game, resulting in a 2-2 draw, as their opponents capitalized on mistakes.
On October 26th, our Varsity Boys Volleyball Team played their finals after a hard-fought semi-final where they battled but ultimately lost to SPH-KV by a score of 3-1. The boys showed great effort, and if momentum and focus had been consistent, the outcome might have been different. In the match for 3rd place, they faced a tough opponent (SPH-LV) and lost 2-0, finishing their season in 4th place. The team’s determination throughout the season has been admirable, and they’re sure to come back stronger next year.
Then, on October 28th, both our boys’ and girls’ soccer teams took the field again. Our Varsity Boys Soccer Team dominated their game, securing an outstanding 12-1 victory against ACG Jakarta. The Varsity Girls Soccer Team also played two challenging matches, losing their first match 3-0 to ACG Jakarta but bouncing back to tie 1-1 against Australian Independent School Jakarta. Their perseverance and team spirit were evident in every play.
Now, it’s time to rally our support as our Varsity Boys Soccer Team heads into their semi-final match this Friday, November 1st, at 3:30 PM here at Global Jaya School against British School Jakarta. Let's come together as a community to cheer on our team, energize them with our support, and help drive them to victory. Let’s make some noise and show our team what it means to play on home ground.
Least but not last, join Pak Alex on Coffee Morning, this Tuesday, November 5th at 8am, to learn more about our athletic program. Looking forward to seeing you and go Hawks!
