Service as action is part of being a Middle Years Programme (MYP) student. More importantly, it is part of being a caring, responsible member of your school, local and global communities.
For more information on how Service as Action involves the MYP - view below!
In the MYP, service as action starts in the classroom and extends beyond it, requiring you to take an active part in the communities you are a part of.
Requirements:
MYP students may choose to do a Service Experience or a Service Project for
their Service as Action.
Service Project is a student-initiated project, where they propose, plan, and execute it by themselves.
Service Experience is where students join existing service programs initiated by other people/ agencies/ school.
In doing both service experience and service project, MYP students may choose one or a combination of the following service types:
Service Project
We encourage all students to do the Service Project in line with 7 learning outcomes, undertake challenges that develop a new skill. All students involved in the service project will earn the project status.
The requirements of the Service Project:
Number of the group maximum is 5.
The duration of the service project is a minimum of 1 month.
As a group, you need to email Ibu Sue, Ibu Popy (years 10), Ibu Julya (years 9), and Ibu Popy/Ibu Sue (years 7 and 8) to ask to discuss and present your service project. Ibu Sue, Ibu Popy, and Ibu Julya will decide whether your Service project is accepted.
You need to write the proposal of your Service Project in the Managebac - IB Manager - Service Action (SA) - document, and upload your SA proposal.
Submitting the document when you do SA Project or Experience on Managebac:
Under the documents section
For every Service project that you do, you need to submit the following:
