Does ASA count? - No, unless you are a project leader such as Hawks Cup organizer or editor of Hawkers.
What if a teacher gives me SA credit for something like Mother Language Day video? - Depends, The teacher or students need prior approval in an email from Ibu Muti (7 and 8) or Ibu Popy ( 9 and10).
Can I just make a donation to a charity? No - during the pandemic it was ok but not any longer - you need to do something meaningful that fits one of the 7 learning outcomes.
If I do a project can all members get credit for it? - No and it depends, only the leader - unless prior approval is requested and approved by Ibu Muti or Ibu Popy - for example - Reissa did Animal Committee and was the leader - SA Project - others came to the meeting and earned experience. Depends - Example - Dara, Ayeesha, and Cheryl had a teaching project to with GoJek drivers teaching children English - each had an important role in the project - all earned project.
When are reflections/proposals for service due? - For semester 1 - end of November - semester 2 - end of April for grades 7-9) and end of May - year 10
Is it service to my community if I help my driver, nanny or others in my home? - No, as this does not fit one of the 7 learning outcomes.
Can I feed the animals in my neighborhood for SA? - Yes, as long as it sustainable activity - such as building an animal shelter or having the animals spade or neutered. No, if you just put some cat food out on the street one morning. It must fit one of the 7 learning outcomes.
Can I clean my neighborhood or help in the mosque? - Yes, but you need to work with your neighborhood coordinator or imam - it also depends on your service learning outcome and the quality of experience.
Can I help students in the primary? Yes, but you need prior approval and talk to the primary school teacher/s or to the PYP Coordinator for the Primary School Principal.
How do I know my status of SA? - First, go to MB and then go to the SA progress tracker - in the SA site.
