Airi Ayalla 7D: My GHD experience was a fun yet hardworking time. To summarize it in 3 words, it is pleasant, cooperative, and persevering. At the start of GHD, I knew it would be an extremely challenging yet rewarding experience. My group and I chose a topic we liked and found interesting enough to research for roughly two months. What I liked most about GHD was that I could explore my interests and not be limited to things that people chose for me. While researching and creating our dioramas, we learned many things about our chosen topic to have fun while being educated about an important topic in history. We could incorporate our passions outside of school into GHD as well; a channel we liked did an episode on our topic, and no one controlled our diorama, so we were allowed to use any medium of art we wanted to show our topic. On the day of the presentation, since we were so interested in our research, we happily gave and answered any information people asked. All of this ended up helping us become the winner for GHD, which we were all incredibly proud of. We learned many things, such as how to research correctly, OPVL, and our chosen topic, the Salem Witch Trials.
Laksmi Budiman 7D: During the 2 months of preparation for Global Jaya History Day, it was stressful yet exciting. Choosing a topic we were all interested in allowed us to feel more motivated towards accomplishing this project. Even though this was such a big project, through the guidance and support of of teacher, we were able to push through and produce high quality work. Throughout the process, we acquired new skills which we would find useful in the future. My favourite part of the GHD process was the presentation day. We were gladly able to share the knowledge we had taken in these past 2 months with students, teachers and parents visiting our booth. Overall, Global Jaya History Day was a fun and exciting journey in which allowed us to win a prize we were all proud of.
Zelvykha Chloeta: Global Jaya History Day was a thrilling experience; I explored a topic I was interested in and expressed my passion through my presentation. We had two months to prepare before the actual day, and throughout the preparation, my group and I had to undergo some stressful times while researching, but it was all worth it in the end. The options felt free, and I could choose something I was passionate about. My group ended up choosing the topic of the "Salem Witch Trials," an era when society believed witches and their symptoms were real. This paranormal topic was unique and could gain more attention, which is part of the reason my group won. I learned that managing my time well during lessons is very significant so I can spare my future self trouble rushing. I also learned how to credit sources accordingly using MLA 9 citations and OPVL. My favorite part of the experience was creating our diorama because I incorporated my passions in painting and art, making the poster, and finally presenting on the day. We confidently presented to our audience the history of these witch trials that occurred in Salem. At the end of the day, we won first place for GHD and happily went home with a trophy in our handsÂ
