In Year 5, we participated in Uji Kemahiran Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian Language Competency Test) run by Badan Pembinaan dan Pengembangan Bahasa (Language Development Agency) last Thursday, 25th January 2024. It is an adaptive format of assessment. The test becomes more manageable or challenging depending on the student's ability to answer the questions. While doing the test, there was a timer, and we had to manage our time wisely while the exam was delivered with various instructions. We had to read the instructions to answer the questions carefully.
Purpose:
UKBI is a test tool to measure a person's level of proficiency in Indonesian, both spoken and written.
There are two parts to this test.
Part 1: Listening (dialog and monolog)
Part 2: The rules or regulations used in forming words and sentences as characteristics or differences from other text types.
Part 3: Reading Comprehension - the ability to process text and understand the meaning of the text rather than what the reader knows.
Below are some Year 5 students' reflections on the test.

Confidence because I know I can better understand what level I'm at in BI so I can improve.
Good, because I know how well I do things in Indonesian language.
I felt a little nervous at first, but I felt confident when I knew what the test was like.
I felt stressed because I thought I would get a bad score.
I felt confident and brave because I was able to do it.
I felt pretty nervous about it because I knew I would have problems with my camera. But in the end, I got a good score and did not have problems with my camera.

I felt nervous, scared, and mostly stressed, but at least I tried my best.
As part of the learning engagement of the unit "How we organize ourselves' Year 5 will hold the MUN on 22nd February 2024. As part of this activity, we invited Secondary MUN Seekers (Kakak Anika and Kakak Aurelia) to introduce MUN and become chairpersons of this international conference model. MUN stands for Model United Nations, also known as a simulation of the United Nations. Countries work together to solve global problems. The topic of MUN this time is Pollution under the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) sub-organisation.
MUN has role calls, a general speaker's list, moderated/unmoderated caucus, resolutions, and voting. A moderated caucus has a topic that is suggested by the delegates—for example, wildfires and eco-friendly manufacturing. The definition of "Moderated" is to make it balanced and less intense, and it is formal. An unmoderated caucus is when you can speak freely, but you still must be polite and diplomatic. You can also set the time for your unmoderated caucus.
At the beginning of semester 2, Year 5 ran the front-loading activities for uOI 4. After unwrapping the central idea, we explored the 17 United Nations SDGs by learning the rationale for why the United Nations created such goals. We also defined each goal. We worked with partners to define and then present in front of the class.
Here is a bit about the history of the U.N.'s establishment—an intergovernmental organization to maintain global peace. The United Nations was established after WW2 to prevent future wars and conflicts. The first few conflicts of the United Nations were the Cold War, a massive battle between Soviet Russia and the U.S. The United Nations, commonly called the U.N., is an international nonprofit organization formed in 1945 to increase political and economic cooperation among its member countries—one place where the world's nations can gather together, discuss common problems, and find solutions. Currently composed of 193 Member States, the U.N. and its work are guided by the purposes and principles of its founding Charter.
