Dear Global Jaya Community,
The upcoming weeks of school will be busy ones for our secondary students. Along with regular day to day expectations, starting on February 12th, our year 12 students begin their mock exams, which suit two purposes: one, allow students to experience Diploma Programme exam conditions; and two, give teachers a better understanding of how well their year 12 students can put into practice all of the learning from the last year and a half of school. Once the mock exams are completed, our teachers will analyze the results to better understand how to plan, deliver, assess, and review course material from now until the end of the school year. Overall, the goal is academic excellence for our year 12 students.
Also, please be reminded that term 3 reports will be published on March 6th, and MSCs will take place on March 7th and 8th. MSCs are an opportunity for students to review their progress towards their year long goal and an opportunity for teachers to share feedback on the results of term 3 summative assessments. All parents are encouraged to attend MSCs as a way of supporting the partnership between home and school. Furthermore, if after attending MSCs you still have questions or concerns about the report’s or your student’s academic progress, please contact the school aadminassistants@globaljaya.com to arrange appointments to further discuss your child’s progress with members of the leadership team. Our goal is to ensure the academic success of every Global Jaya student.
In addition to planning for upcoming events, we should also pause to celebrate the many recent secondary school achievements. To begin with, our Personal Project Exhibition was a huge success with a wide variety of projects on display at each student’s booth and individual on-stage performances from several of our year 10 students. Overall, the Personal Project journey enabled our students to pursue an idea of personal interest and to share their findings with our Global Jaya community. From the athletics perspective, we are also pleased to announce that our U15 boys and girls volleyball teams both won their league championships, earning the school two additional JAAC banners for this academic year. The combination of the Personal Project Exhibition and the U15 volleyball championships further demonstrate the balanced focus of our school in the areas of athletics and academic excellence.
