Hello, my name is Anka. The following report is about what students did during Independence Day on 18th August, 2023. This topic is about our Independence Day celebration with the whole school.
First, we attended the Independence Day Upacara. Then, after our snack, the Year 6 went to the football field to have a picnic. We shared traditional foods that we brought, such as batagor, mie goreng, and more.
After that, we played games together like: football, jump ropes, congklak, loncat karet and more. Our classes played together and improved our social, leadership, communication, and research skills. We improved our social skills because we spoke to each other about strategies for the game. We improved our leadership skills because we learned to teach others about how to play the games. We improved our communication skills because we communicated and played several games together. We also improved our research skills because we researched traditional foods and toys that we could bring to the picnic.
We used and improved many of the IB learner profiles, such as:
Knowledgeable - We showed our knowledge about traditional food and activities that we can do together.
Risk-taker - We tried new games and activities that we hadn’t played before. We also attended the Upacara.
Caring - We respected, cared, and didn’t destroy any of the activities that we tried out.
Balanced - We were balanced because we were able to improve our skills such as: social, physical, emotional, and spiritual.
Overall, we had fun during these activities. We learned many new things. We learned about traditional traditions from different cultures. We also respected the Indonesian heroes who fought for our freedom by attending the Upacara. We have also improved our skills and our IB learner profiles. Because of this, we are now more knowledgeable. We were problem solvers too. This Independence Day is one of the many opportunities we have at Global Jaya.
Thank you,
Anka on behalf of Year 6 students
Hello, my name is Jaeyden. On August 25, 2023 the Year 6 students were the first grade level to perform at the whole primary assembly. It was called - “The Mini Skits of Conflict.” The Year 6 Assembly talked about their first Unit Of Inquiry, in which they were learning about the interdependence of governments.
In this process of practicing, making the script, preparing props, and others, we used the following ATL skills:
Communication skills - Able to communicate/talk to other people to get them to understand and cooperate.
Self-management skills - Practicing by ourselves, and practicing together.
Creative thinking skills - To be able to share ideas and opinions to make a better performance and to work together.
Social collaboration skills - Communicate with each other to work together and make an awesome assembly.
And the following LP skills:
Communicator - Talk to other people to be able to work together to create an awesome assembly.
Balanced - Using time wisely and to practice the best we can.
Open-Minded - To share ideas and incorporate others ideas too.
This assembly was conveying a message of how we should solve conflicts/problems peacefully. It was better than fighting right?
This is the first student lead assembly, with little to no teacher help! The students independently created the script, prepared background settings and props, directed and practiced by themselves. In fact, we only had two weeks to prepare! The script writing team included: Almeera 6B, Nabila 6A, Anka 6A, Jaeyden 6A, Nathan 6B, and Kira 6A.
At the end of the assembly and upon further reflection, there were a few things we could have done better. But overall, we were proud to say that the assembly was a success and everyone did an amazing job!
