Establishing classroom routines at the start of the school year is essential to creating a classroom environment in which we love participating! During the first week of school, the Kindergarten students were introduced to the routines that will support them in having a safe and positive learning experience. Here are some classroom routines that we do in our classroom.
Morning routine plays an essential role in our day. It helps the students get to know each other and sets a positive classroom environment for the day.
Kindergarten students start the morning meeting with greetings.
When the greetings are done, students will look at a presentation and be informed about what activities are scheduled that day. This presentation helps students to be prepared and more confident in learning because they know what to expect.
After the presentation, students will head to the carpet, and it is Calendar Time!
After the calendar time, it is time to sing and dance! Students will be introduced to different songs every week so they will not get bored. After dance time, students will have opportunity to go to toilet before continue to the class inquiry.
As new school members, Kindergarten students are not yet familiar with the school areas. Lining up can help them go to different school areas safely.
Kindergarten students learn to wash their hands frequently to avoid germs.
Kindergarten students eat healthy foods for snacks and lunch. This is important to keep them nourished and energised for the activities that they will be doing.
After finishing their snacks or lunch, students can play in the playground! During this time, students can explore their motor skills in various plays. They can walk, run, jump, hop, slide, crawl, climb, and even ride a bike.
After playing outside, Kindergarten students need to relax their bodies and minds. Listening to a story, music or watching short story videos can help the students relax and reflect on what they learned that day before going home.
