Community Agent in Action !
Year 2 is learning about community helpers around us, under the transdisciplinary theme How We Organize Ourselves. As part of their exploration to learn about different roles in the school community and how they support people, students interviewed some of the school staff and used their research and communication skills to find information. Now we know better about who is in the school community besides our teachers. We know more names, more roles and responsibilities in the GJS community.
Learning From Our Guest Speakers
Ibu Dewi Reusita (Rafael’s mom 2A) came as our guest speaker to share her roles in different communities. We learned that a community member has a significant role in a community. People work together with another community member to support a community. Ibu Dewi has had significant roles in her study group community, office community as an auditor and as a mom at home. So do we! What are our roles in different communities? Let’s reflect.
Pak Rully shared his new role as GJS Primary Dean of Students. Pak Rully, formerly a primary teacher, now has a new role and works together with more community members around the school such as the Secondary Dean of Students and also parents. Pak Rully shared how he works together with teachers to make sure all learning and teaching activities run smoothly and also students' well being is maintained, encouraged and facilitated in this school.
Happy Indonesian Independence Day! Merdeka!
Year 2 celebrated the 78th Independence Day by attending the flag ceremony as a whole school at the soccer field. Then, we had some Independence Day races such as: pompom games with chopsticks, flag racing and pencils in the bottles race.
The games were so much fun! We really enjoyed the games and learned the spirit of competition and togetherness. As a student, we also have a role to continue the spirit of independence and nationalism by learning hard and learning about Indonesia in our classroom. Happy 78th Independence Day!
