Who doesn't love to be Back to School?
During this first week of school, Reception students engaged in a variety of fun activities inside and outside of the classroom. Reception students started the day by getting to know their new teachers and the people who work with them. They also had a chance to introduce themselves to their new friends and share activities they indulged in during their summer break in front of the class. They demonstrated good communication and risk-taking skills by sharing their stories independently using their drawings.
Merdeka, Merdeka, Merdeka!!!
Reception students were very excited to be a part of the whole school Upacara and were proud to join in for the flag raising ceremony. They observed and followed all the moments during the flag ceremony and happily sang the “Hari Merdeka” song. To further celebrate the Indonesian Independence Day, Kindy and Reception students showed off their national and cultural costumes in the Nusantara Parade. What confident students we have who are so proud of their cultural heritage at this age. We thank our parents for joining us during this event and supporting us by playing and engaging in various activities with their children. It was wonderful to see them bond and play with each other while learning about friendship and teamwork.
David day
Our second week started with a read aloud with Ibu Lavesa. Ibu Lavesa read the book “No, David!” for both our classes. The book is about a little boy who breaks all the rules and hears his mother say “NO!” a lot. But no matter how much trouble he gets into, she still loves him. This book also allowed students to learn how to read to the word NO. The week was filled with many activities related to the book including one where students were encouraged to come to school wearing a stripe outfit just like David. Teachers integrated the activity into the math lesson by asking students to make a poster of David using simple patterns. And, most importantly, we also discussed classroom essential agreement to foster a sense of ownership and empowerment among the students.
